Most of you noticed a long time ago – my new online shop, Astrids butik. Most of your orders moved there during the latest months, so I have now finished the move and closed the old shop on this page. THANK YOU so much to everyone who shopped here. Without you, my little company would obviously not exist, and without all the orders, I would not have been able to grow both my range of products but also my overall project. Thank you! To those who find the move a bit strange or just want to know more about what I am working on behind the scenes, here is a much longer explanation.
Will the products at Astrids butik be different from the ones at Midgaards Have?
No, the products are exactly the same. They are still labelled Midgaards Have and my company’s name is still Midgaards Have. Everything I do with natural dyeing is still labelled Midgaards Have and this web page is staying. I will still give a selection of workshops every year (scheduled workshops in Danish right now but it is possible to book me for English workshops, too). The part of Astrids butik that corresponds to the shop as it was here at Midgaards Have is here.
But, why move the shop if everything is just the same?
Well, it isn’t! The products from Midgaards Have are the same with a few new ones added. The difference is that my new shop also carries a lot of products from my other project Retrofutura. Retrofutura is about historical knitting. I started that web page in 2020 with a store that carried yarn and patterns – but realized what a hassle it was to have two shops. So now everything is in one shop and if I come up with more crazy stuff in the future, it will also be a part of Astrids butik.
Is more crazy stuff on the way then?
Maybe not crazy exactly. But my next area that I’m working on is publishing. I have registered Midgaards Have as a publisher, giving me access to ISBN numbers. The first one will be Roland, a knitting pattern with historical background. I don’t plan to publish Roland in English as a paper book, but it is available as pdf.
My next big project is a book about japanese indigo. For several years, I’ve worked on and off on a introduction to natural dyeing in Danish, as we don’t have a good introductory text in Danish that is current, free from errors and cover all the topics I’d like. But the project is too big, so I have decided to “divide and conquer”. And the first bite is japanese indigo – a plant I love with all my blue heart. No publication about japanese indigo exists in Danish – there are books in English and French that cover the topic in i different way than I will. So now I just need some nice quiet time to work on it!
